When you can remove the requirement for a DPS

You can apply to remove the requirement for a DPS if you're a community premises, for example: 

  • a village hall
  • church hall
  • chapel
  • community centre 

This means that you do not need a DPS and you can sell alcohol on the premises without needing a personal licence holder to authorise the sale. 

How to remove the requirement for a DPS 

Complete the form to remove the requirement for a DPS on GOV.UK 

You also need to pay an application fee of £23. 

You can submit the form and pay the fee electronically. 

After you’ve made the request

The police have 14 days if they want to object to the application. 

If the police do not object, we’ll grant the application. 

If the police do object, our Licensing Sub-Committee will hold a public hearing to make a decision on the application..
