Berkeley Homes supported internship programme
Welcome to the Berkeley Homes Supported Internship Programme for 2024 to 2025.
This programme is now in its third successful year. It has been a collaborative effort aimed at empowering young adults. Giving them the skills, experience and qualifications needed to secure sustainable employment.
Over the years, we've had many success stories. We're excited to continue to provide impactful opportunities for our interns.
Programme overview
The Berkeley Homes Supported Internship Programme offers a dynamic and enriching experience that will give interns a variety of workplace skills.
The programme includes rotations across different sectors to give a comprehensive learning experience. Interns will take part in:
- concierge work
- retail skills development
- barista training
- finance and administration
- library and information services
- logistics operations
Key benefits
- Employability Level 1 qualification. Interns work towards an employability qualification, which will enhance their CV and boost their job prospects.
- Hands-on experience. Through various rotations, interns gain practical skills in many fields.
- Personal development. Interns receive tailored support to develop both professional and personal skills.
- Mentorship and guidance. Experienced mentors provide guidance throughout the internship, helping each intern maximise their potential.
Rotations and activities
Concierge work
Interns will learn the essentials of concierge services including:
- customer service
- managing bookings
- providing information to residents and visitors.
This role develops communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
Retail skills development
This rotation offers hands-on experience in a retail environment. Interns will learn about inventory management, customer interactions, sales techniques and visual merchandising.
Barista training
Interns will be trained in the art of coffee making including:
- using professional coffee machines
- customer service in a café setting
- maintaining a clean and welcoming environment
Finance and administration
This rotation covers basic financial principles including:
- book keeping
- invoicing
- budget management
Interns will also get experience in administrative tasks such as data entry, filing and office management.
Library and information services
Interns will help:
- manage library resources
- catalogue books
- supporting library users.
This role improves organisational skills and attention to detail.
Logistics operations
This rotation involves working in logistics. Interns will learn about:
- inventory control
- supply chain management
- efficient distribution of goods
Support and opportunities
Throughout the programme, interns will get support to ensure their success. This includes:
- career coaching. Professional coaches will help interns set career goals, prepare for job interviews, and refine their resumes
- workshops and seminars. Regular sessions on various topics such as teamwork, leadership, and effective communication
- networking opportunities. Interns will meet professionals from various industries, opening doors to future employment opportunities
- health and wellbeing support. Access to counselling and mental health services to ensure interns' wellbeing
