Energy procurement for schools

Overview

We offer schools and children’s centres an opportunity to opt into our energy procurement scheme.

Service details

Our energy contract is with a central purchasing body called LASER. They are Kent County Council’s commercial trading service.

LASER offer a flexible approach that allows us to control the risk inherent in the energy market. It’s known as the LASER Energy Procurement Framework and is in place until October 2028.

By signing up, your school will be locked into the contract until it expires in October 2028.

The package incorporates:

  • energy contracts
  • support to establish sites, meters, disconnections and supply transfer
  • liaison with suppliers, including query and dispute management with energy suppliers
  • automatic meter-reading devices to ensure accurate monitoring and billing where installed
  • meter-reading reminders to help you pay for the energy you use rather than what’s estimated where meter readers are not installed

In all cases the school remains responsible for paying their energy bills, which are sent to the school by LASER.
