To start at a sixth form centre in September, you’ll need to apply by the end of June.
Who can apply
You can apply to a sixth form centre in Royal Greenwich if you:
- are aged 16 to 18
- live or attend school in Royal Greenwich
- meet the centre’s entry requirements
- agree a learning plan with the centre
You can apply even if you don’t meet these criteria, and you may be offered a place.
How to apply
To apply, you should:
- Decide what you want to study.
- Find a course.
- Find a local sixth form centre.
- Attend an open day or virtual tour at the centres you’re interested in if you wish.
- Apply direct to the sixth form centre - check their website to find out how to apply.
Priorities for entry into sixth form centres
The priorities below apply to sixth form centres at:
- Eltham Hill
- Plumstead Manor
- Thomas Tallis
Other sixth form centres have their own admissions priorities, which you can find on their websites.
Priorities
- The highest priority is given to students who meet the entry criteria and have an education, health and care plan (EHCP) naming the sixth form centre they should attend.
- Students who are in our care, or the care of another local authority, or have been in the past.
If there are more applicants for a course than places available, the following priorities apply:
- Where the centre is part of a school, students in Year 11 at that school.
- Students who attend another Royal Greenwich secondary school.
- Students who need to attend a particular sixth form centre because they, or a member of their immediate family, have a chronic medical or social care need.
- Students who live nearest to the sixth form centre.
Right of appeal
If your application to a sixth form centre is unsuccessful, they’ll let you know about your right of appeal.
An independent appeal panel considers all appeals. If a student and their parent lodge separate appeals, we’ll arrange for the panel to hear them together, if possible.
