The Royal Greenwich Health and Wellbeing Board is a statutory committee of the Council.

It brings together senior leaders from the NHS, Royal Borough of Greenwich, Healthwatch Greenwich, the Metropolitan Police, and the voluntary and community sector to work in partnership.

The Board’s goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Greenwich and reduce health inequalities across the borough.

What the Board does

The Board works to improve population health and tackle health inequalities by:

  • identifying local health needs and setting priorities
  • making sure health and care plans reflect those needs
  • preparing and publishing a local Health and Wellbeing Strategy

Other things the board does include:

  • planning and supporting the delivery of joined-up local services
  • encouraging public services, communities, and the voluntary sector to collaborate
  • engaging with residents, community groups, and stakeholders
  • assessing the need for pharmaceutical services and publishing a local assessment

Who sits on the Board

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 sets out a minimum membership for each local health and wellbeing board, including:

  • one elected councillor
  • a representative from the local Healthwatch
  • a representative from the local Integrated Care Board (ICB)
  • directors of adult services, children’s services and public health from the local authority

Royal Greenwich Board members

The Board in Royal Greenwich takes a wider ‘health in all policies’ approach.

It includes representatives from housing, education, the voluntary and community sector (VCS), policing, and healthcare partners.

This helps ensure local services work together to tackle the wider factors affecting health.
