Building regulations allow the Royal Borough of Greenwich to check any illegal work done after 11 November 1985. Building Control will check the work and issue a certificate of regularisation.
This is not an alternative way of dealing with current building works.
Make an application
You'll need to apply if you're a building owner and want to have work regularised.
When you apply, you should include information about:
- the illegal work
- any proposed steps to make the work compl
- who designed and built the illegal work
You can also download a regularisation certificate application form.

After you've applied
When we've considered the application, we may need some to open parts of the works for inspection. We can then tell you if you have to do anything before we can issue the certificate.
