Walking routes in Royal Greenwich

There are marked and mapped routes for walking, running and cycling in 5 parks across the borough.

All parks are wheelchair accessible, but some routes may vary in terrain or be affected by weather. 

The Green Chain Walk 

Part of a 64 km (40-mile) footpath network across south London. It connects over 300 green spaces and offers some of the best views in the city.  

In Royal Greenwich, the Green Chain Walk: 

  • begins at three points on the Thames
  • passes through Lesnes Abbey, Woolwich Common, and Shooters Hill
  • heads south through Eltham and ends at Crystal Palace Park

The Thames Path 

Walk or cycle along this scenic riverside route that follows the Thames through Greenwich. Highlights include: 

  • Historic Greenwich and the Cutty Sark
  • Thames Barrier and Riverside walks
  • Woolwich and Royal Arsenal
  • Thamesmead waterways
  • Eastern reaches to Crayford Ness 

This traffic-free path is perfect for leisurely walks, family outings, and commuting.
