Anyone who lives, works, or studies in Royal Greenwich can become a library member.
As a member, you’ll get access to:
- all physical and online libraries in the borough
- books, audiobooks, and DVDs
- free Wi-Fi and computer use
- online resources and eBooks
- community events and workshops
You’ll also receive a Greenwich One Card, which gives you discounts at local shops, cafés, and leisure centres.
How to join a library
You can join a library in Royal Greenwich in person or online.
When joining in person, you’ll need to bring:
- a completed membership form
- proof of name and address, like utility bill or driving licence
If you're under 16, your parent, guardian, or teacher must come along with your ID to act as a guarantor.
You can also join a library in the borough online at better.org.uk
Using the online library
You’ll need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to use the online library.
With your PIN, you can:
- receive reminders and notifications through email or text
- check your current loans and due dates
- reserve and renew items online
You can only renew items twice online. After that, renewals must be done in person.

- asking in person at any branch
