We are shocked and deeply concerned about recent reports of Government ‘roundups’ of those facing deportation to Rwanda under what we believe is an inhumane policy. 

Instead of punishing people who’ve already been through so much, we need compassionate and protection-focused policies. As a Borough of Sanctuary, we have a long history of welcoming people fleeing violence and persecution. We will not turn our back on people who need our help. 

This week, we are writing to community organisations across the borough to sign the pledge to support those who seek sanctuary in our communities and join us in supporting the work of City of Sanctuary network.
