Help shape improvements around Plumstead

Wednesday 22 November 2023

We are inviting local residents, community groups, and businesses to help shape improvements around Plumstead train station and the Plumstead underpass as part of a new consultation launched today.

The proposals aim to create safer and more attractive spaces for people walking and cycling in the area, improving links with public transport connections, and providing more greenery.

Cllr Averil Lekau, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Environment and Transport, said: “We’re committed to creating a safer and more efficient transport network for the local community in Plumstead. These proposals will help to improve the quality of life for residents and businesses in the area, and we encourage everyone to get involved in the consultation and share their views.”

Cllr Aidan Smith, Cabinet Member for Regeneration: “Plumstead has seen a range of work undertaken recently to revitalise the high street, funded by the Council and the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund. It’s great to see the next phase of work around the train station and the underpass taking shape. These improvements will not only make the area more attractive and welcoming for residents and businesses, but they will also play a key role in our plans to regenerate the wider area.”

Feedback gathered during the consultation will be used to help shape the final designs and make sure they reflect the needs and aspirations of people who live and work in the area.
