The Royal Borough of Greenwich extends a royal invitation to residents to watch the King’s Coronation in style on the big screen on Saturday 6 May.

The ticketed event will run from 10am to 4pm in General Gordon Square. As well as screening all the action live from Westminster Abbey, expect free children’s crafts and activities and family entertainment fit for a king!

450 free tickets are available to book via Eventbrite on a first come, first served basis. Tickets will allow access to the grass terraces of General Gordon Square and are limited to ensure everyone has a comfortable space while they watch. Each booker will be able to secure a maximum of six tickets.

Food and drink from local traders will also be on sale outside the ticketed area. The central pathway through the square will be closed to everyone except ticket holders, but there will still be public access to pass through the square via other designated routes.

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said: “Last year marked ten years since we gained our status as a royal borough and the coronation is a brilliant way to bring our communities together once again.

“Our royal links date back to the 1400s and King Charles’ maritime career has brought him to the borough in person over the years.

“The atmosphere in General Gordon Square is sure to be electric on Saturday 6 May, and I’m thrilled to be holding this free event in the heart of our borough. I can’t wait to see how residents come together to celebrate this historic event – wherever you’re watching!”
