After the success of Community Champions during the pandemic, The Royal Borough of Greenwich has decided to recruit more champions to help our borough stay connected

Initially set up us as a partnership between the Council and the NHS during the pandemic, Community Champions are an army of volunteers from across the borough recruited to share key information with friends, family and local community networks about health and wellbeing support and local activities.

Cllr Denise Scott-Mcdonald, Cabinet Member for Health and Adults’ Social Care: “Our inspiring Community Champions have already played a huge role in our borough, from correcting false vaccination messaging on social media to speaking to their neighbours and ensuring they’re up to date on the latest health advice.  Having more dedicated people with approved health advice in their pockets,  will help everyone live their healthiest lives and make sure no one is forgotten.”

Champions receive free training, webinars and are part of a community network via Whatsapp.

As a Community Champion, you will receive health and wellbeing advice and information, sent by the Council and the local NHS via email or WhatsApp, to share with friends, family and community networks. You will also be encouraged to share any issues or concerns raised at local level.

Local health priorities are always changing, and the Council needs volunteers ready to share the latest information with their community.
