Holiday Fun Friday is back this half term and will continue after dark as the first of the Council’s spectacular Woolwich Lates events.

Come along for a free day out for all the family on Friday 17 February in General Gordon Square in Woolwich. The event kicks off at 10am and for the first time ever, the fun will carry on until 8pm.

Get stuck into free arts, crafts and activities, support local market traders and don’t miss LED drummers Spark! They’ll light up the sky with two performances at 5pm and 7pm. Cuisine from across the globe will be on offer from local food vendors, including stone baked pizza, gourmet burgers, Caribbean jerk chicken and West African dishes.

Be sure to check out Beresford Square Market too, which is just a few minutes’ walk away and will be open from 9am to 4.30pm.

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said, “With so many residents facing financial pressure, it’s more important than ever to bring our communities together for fun, free family events.

“Two of the Council’s missions for the next four years are to ensure those in financial need can access opportunities and that all children and young people can reach their full potential. Free events like Holiday Fun Friday allow families to learn, play and have fun together regardless of financial barriers.

“If you’re looking for ways to keep the kids entertained this half term, come along and join us on Friday 17 February in General Gordon Square. This year, we’ve teamed up with the Council’s Woolwich Lates and added an extra four hours of fun including a spectacular LED drumming show that I can’t wait to see in action!”

Councillor Mariam Lolavar, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business and Skills, said: “Last November, we were thrilled to share that our ‘Woolwich Lates’ events plan had secured Mayor of London’s Night Time Enterprise Zone status for Woolwich. This initiative is aimed at boosting our high streets and increasing activity later into the evening, for the benefit of our businesses.

“We’re excited to invite residents and visitors to the first of our Woolwich Lates, a special edition of the Council’s popular Holiday Fun Friday events, extended until 8pm. As well as free family activities, come and enjoy an incredible LED street theatre performance by Spark!, delicious food and pick up some bargains from local businesses.”

“Don’t forget to check out what’s on offer from local traders throughout the day at Beresford Square Market too.”
