Earlier this year, we went on the hunt for the best gardeners in the borough...and the results are in!
Earlier this year, we went on the hunt for the best gardeners in the borough. This was a chance for green-fingered residents of all ages to show off their very best planting skills and win prizes.
The categories were front garden, back garden, containers, communal garden, and junior gardener. Contestants were judged solely on pictures, so needed to brush up on their photography skills too. Judges included Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities and the Mayor of Royal Greenwich, Cllr Leo Fletcher.
The award ceremony took place on a one-to-one basis with the Mayor of Royal Greenwich, in his town hall parlour where winners of each category received an award and a voucher from this year's sponsor, Thompsons Garden Centre for up to £60.
Cllr Khaireh said: “Huge congratulations to our residents that work hard on bringing colour and vibrancy to their neighbourhoods. Our annual awards celebrate and recognise the efforts our communities go to, and I only hope it inspires more people to enter next year's awards and get involved in gardening for the physical and mental benefits too.”
