The council's annual update of the electoral register is currently taking place.
We've sent a form to all households in the borough to confirm the information we currently have on eligible and registered voters at your address.
Please read and follow the instructions on the form. If asked to do so, please complete and return it so we can make sure our electoral register is up to date.
From now until the end of November, our electoral registration staff, known as canvassers, will be visiting properties across the borough who haven't already responded. They may call at residential addresses and blocks of flats to ask householders to confirm who is eligible to register to vote. Their visits form part of the annual electoral registration process, which is a legal requirement under the Representation of the People Act.
Please note:
- our canvassers will always carry photo ID
- canvassers may access communal areas within blocks of flats to reach individual flat doors
- they will never ask to enter your home or flat.
Debbie Warren, Chief Executive and Returning Officer at Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: "The annual electoral registration process is a legal requirement and helps us make sure our records are up to date and accurate. It is a vital part of the democratic process and helps us make sure our residents can have their say and make their vote count in future elections.
"If you've received a form in the post asking for a response, please complete it and return it to us as soon as possible."
If you have any concerns about a caller claiming to be an electoral canvasser, please contact the Royal Borough of Greenwich Electoral Registration Team for verification on elect@royalgreenwich.gov.uk or 020 8921 5184.
