Following months of anticipation, the winners of the Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards were revealed at a prestigious ceremony on Friday 13 March at Woolwich Works.

Over 400 local entrepreneurs, investors and stakeholders attended the annual event, which showcases and celebrates local businesses’ success and hard work over the last 12 months, culminating in revealing the 16 category winners and the overall Business of the Year.

This year, we paid tribute to businesses that not only boast boardroom success but also have a strong community ethos, which was reflected in the introduction of several new award categories, including Co-operative or Community Business, Local Collaboration and Social Impact.

Top accolade Business of the Year 2026 went to Mama2Mama Baby Essentials, dignity-first baby bank and community hub cafe which has supported over 900 local families in the past 12 months. They won £3,000 for a project of their choice.

The awards, which are organised by the council in association with the South East London Chamber, welcomed new headline sponsor, Berkeley.

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: “Massive congratulations to our winners and finalists who have achieved amazing things over the last year. Royal Greenwich is a world-class place for businesses to establish themselves, grow and prosper. Our vision is to create an inclusive economy that works for everyone. Local businesses are vital in creating jobs and opportunities for local people, and we want to thank them for their important contributions to Royal Greenwich. They are the backbone of our borough.”

Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business, Skills and Greenwich Supports – and Head Judge – said: “It was wonderful to celebrate our incredible winners and finalists at this year’s awards ceremony. Competition was high across all categories this year, so it wasn’t easy choosing the winners. The theme of this year’s awards was collaboration and community. We had a record number of co-operatives and social enterprises shortlisted, and the winners show that businesses can be successful while having community at their heart. By coming together, we can provide the best for residents.”

The event was hosted by Martin Bayfield, former rugby player turned stuntman, actor and broadcaster. Councillor Smith gave the opening address and closing remarks. Businesses showed their generosity by raising funds for the Mayor of Greenwich’s charities: Home-Start Greenwich and Community Hospice (Greenwich & Bexley) Dementia Group.

Winners of 16 categories and Business of the Year were selected by a panel of judges, including Head Judge Councillor Smith; Councillor Sandra Bauer – Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities; Alexis Lazarou – CEO of Greenwich & Bexley Credit Union; Christofi Christou – Economic Inclusion Manager at Peabody and President of the South East London Chamber of Commerce; Dr Hetty Sun – Associate Professor and Associate Head of the Executive Business Centre – Research and Knowledge Exchange at the Greenwich Business School; Lawrence Lartey – Director of Innovation Industry and Enterprise at Ravensbourne University London; Loretta Awuah – Strategic Business Support Manager at GLL; Tony Goldstein – Managing Director of South East Enterprise and Tulasi Parmar – Founder and Creative Director of TULASI.

Three categories – Food and Drink Venue of the Year, Independent Retailer of the Year and Market or Mobile Trader of the Year – were determined by the public, who submitted 5,176 votes.
