Thousands of residents supported through our Advice Hubs

Resident seeking support at Advice Hub in Greenwich, friendly advisor smiles at resident, resident is faced away from the camera

Advice Hubs in Royal Greenwich have provided a lifeline for over 8,750 residents since launching in 2022, offering free support to those who need it.

In just under four years, advisors have helped residents secure almost £5.9million in additional income through raising awareness and supporting them in claiming financial support they are entitled to.

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “The fact that our Advice Hubs have put £5.9millions’ worth of financial support directly into the pockets of our residents is a testament to the impact these hubs have.

“Rising costs continue to affect our communities. These hubs offer a free and trusted space to help residents understand what benefits they can access, support them through housing or immigration issues and so much more.”

Cllr Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member Inclusive Economy, Business, Greenwich Supports and Environmental Services: “Our Advice Hubs give residents somewhere welcoming where they can talk through their situation and get the support they need, helping them through financial struggles or complicated systems.

“We know that asking for help can sometimes feel overwhelming, but these face-to-face hubs in community centres are opening doors for people who wouldn’t usually seek help.”

In a recent survey, 70% of respondents said they would have struggled to get help without the Advice Hubs. One resident shared: “When my husband passed away, I was able to get good advice, for that I am so grateful.”

Another said: “It was helpful to have several options and locations to attend, and the advice received enabled me to see a way forward to resolve the problem.”

Run in partnership with Citizens Advice, Greenwich Housing Rights and the Plumstead Community Law Centre, there are sessions Monday through to Friday, excluding bank holidays.

Advice Hubs are also run by local partners Clockhouse Community Centre, Lewisham Refugee Migrant Network and Peabody Community Trust, supporting residents to access the help they need.
