After successful repairs last week, Herbert Road is now fully open again and the site has been cleared.
After excavating the impacted area on Eglinton Hill, Thames Water’s wastewater team have sadly confirmed that the works are more complicated than initially thought due to the close proximity to the gas main. Thames Water are investigating whether a no dig solution could repair the defect on the sewer and they will know more by the end of the week.
The excavated site will be filled, meaning Eglinton Hill is expected to reopen early next week, with bus services to resume as normal soon after. However, Thames Water anticipate that if the no dig solution is not feasible works will need to resume later this year once they have consulted with their engineers on a possible resolution.
We’re waiting for more information from Thames Water regarding this and we will provide residents with an update as soon as we have one.
We have also repeated our insistence that Thames Water provide a full asset management plan for the wider area, ensure adequate communication with us, TfL and residents, as well as seeking answers as to how they have managed the recent works in a way we and residents have considered unsatisfactory.
We’re sorry for the continued disruption that Thames Water’s works are causing to the area, and we really appreciate the patience of impacted residents.
