Statement on flash floods near Nepal-Tibet border

We’re saddened and concerned by news of the devastating flash flooding in Nepal’s Rasuwa district which has resulted in hundreds of lives lost, as well as many more missing.

Royal Greenwich is home to the largest Nepali community in London and we’d like to extend our solidarity and condolences with all those who have been impacted, including the loved ones of the British nationals whose lives have been lost or are still missing.

We sincerely hope for the safety of missing survivors, as well as the swift reunification of families and communities who have been affected.

The council also welcomes the UK government’s offer of £5m to the Nepali government to assist in the response to this highly distressing situation.
