We are committed to making our borough a cleaner, greener, and more accessible place to live, work, and travel. The council are inviting residents, businesses and stakeholders to take part in a statutory consultation on proposed highway changes.
Part of the Plumstead Public Realm Improvement Project (PRIP), a key regeneration project focused on improving the public realm around Plumstead Station and Pettman Crescent, the scheme forms part of the council’s long-term ambition to attract investment and regeneration to Plumstead.
To deliver these improvements, the council is proposing a series of changes to the public highway, which must be formalised through a Traffic Management Order (TMO). The proposed measures include:
- The introduction and amendment of one-way and bi-directional cycle lanes
- Changes to waiting and loading restrictions
- The relocation of a loading bay
- The relocation and removal of parking bays
- The introduction and removal of signal-controlled pedestrian crossings
The statutory consultation period will commence on 18 Feb 2026 and end on 11 March 2026.
Full details of the proposals will be available online here
As part of the consultation: Notices will be displayed on the affected streets. Statutory advertisements will appear in the London Gazette and the Greenwich Weekender. All feedback received during the statutory period will be carefully considered in line with the legal process before any final decisions are made.
Calum O’Byrne Mulligan, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Sustainability and Transport said:
“The Plumstead Public Realm Improvement Project is about creating a safer, greener and more welcoming environment for everyone who lives, works and travels through the area. This statutory consultation is an important step, and I encourage residents and businesses to take the time to review the proposals and share their views.”
