New strategy to help transform Greenwich’s 14km Thames Path and Riverside corridor

Subject to Cabinet approval on 18 March, the council will bring forward a new strategy that will create a long-term vision for improving the borough’s 14km riverside route.

The Thames Path and adjoining riverside is one of the borough’s most important public spaces and a vital route for walking, cycling and enjoying the river.

The proposal of a new strategy is in response to a scrutiny review of the Thames Path which found that it is not being used to its full potential. A new strategy would help the Council address issues such as accessibility, lighting, poor signage and connectivity while unlocking regeneration opportunities. It will be design-led and link to what is being delivered through the Local Plan and forthcoming Urban Regeneration Frameworks alongside other masterplan documents.
