A suspected stolen vehicle has been seized following resident concerns about a garage in Plumstead.
A joint police and council operation on Friday 3 July found over half a dozen vehicles on Riverdale Road and Saunders Road, including some partly dismantled, damaged in crashes, and with their number plates removed and identification numbers covered up.
The council issued two fines and reported four untaxed vehicles to the DVLA, and an abandoned vehicle was taken away and scrapped. The garage has been ordered to stop using the road as part of its business and to remove the vehicles blocking it.
Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Transport, Climate Change, Waste and Streets, Councillor Calum O'Byrne Mulligan, said:
"We are committed to keeping our neighbourhoods safe, clean and accessible for everyone. When residents raised concerns about this particular business, we worked with the police to investigate and take action.
"This operation forms part of our wider Operation Stop It programme, which we are stepping up with our police partners to crack down on environmental crime, misuse of the public highway, and other offences that blight local communities."
