In 2050, we want everyone in Greenwich to live in a neighbourhood, not just a home and that no one goes without a safe, secure and affordable place to live.
We want people in our borough to have the support they need at every stage of life, whether they are older, experiencing homelessness, living with a disability or have supported housing needs.
These plans will be set out in the borough’s Housing and Homelessness Strategy - a strategic blueprint of our key housing commitments up to 2032. The strategy will be shaped by resident input, strategic planning and insight and the proposed key elements of the borough’s forthcoming Local Plan.
We’re now inviting residents to help shape our Housing and Homelessness plans by sharing their views on a series of draft commitments covering key strands including:
- tackling homelessness and ending rough sleeping
- supporting people with specific housing needs
- ensuring safe and sustainable homes
- building resilient, vibrant communities and neighbourhoods.
Cllr Jackie Smith, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Housing, Greenwich Build and Estate Regeneration, said:
Everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to call home. Our Housing and Homelessness Strategy will set the direction for housing in the borough over the next five years, helping us meet the challenges we face today while planning for the future. Residents have already started to play an important role in this by giving us early feedback on what matters most to them when it comes to housing, which has allowed us to draw up a set of draft commitments. I encourage everyone to take part in the consultation and share their views to help shape the future of housing in our borough.”
All resident feedback, alongside previous feedback from the Intermediate Housing consultation and the draft Local Plan, will feed directly into the final strategy which will be published in early 2027.
