Help TfL design the new Thamesmead DLR station as extension progresses to next stage

As TfL progresses the extension of the DLR, a transformative project for the future of Thamesmead and the wider borough, residents can now help decide what the new stations will look like.

The third TfL consultation on the DLR extension has now launched, with the new station expected to transform the borough with faster, easier journeys into the centre of the city as well as tens of thousands of new homes and jobs.

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: “Every Londoner should be excited about these plans for our corner of the capital. Thamesmead is the only London postcode which doesn't currently have a direct rail link and the DLR extension puts this right. It's a true catalyst for growth, providing local people with new connections and opportunities all across London.”

Councillor Tom Creswell, Cabinet Member for Planning and Development in Greenwich, said: “Quicker, more reliable journeys to and from central London are just the tip of the iceberg for the Thamesmead DLR extension. This transformative project is going to unlock the area's vast potential through tens of thousands of new homes and jobs, building the Thamesmead New Town from the ground up with the infrastructure it needs to thrive.”

In particular, this consultation is asking local people for their views on:

  • how the two new stations could look and would be accessed
  • how the extension could be built
  • impacts of construction on local communities, businesses and the environment.

This game-changing project, which the council has long campaigned for, will supercharge Thamesmead's potential and represents another boost to our work in securing New Town status for the neighbourhood.

You’ve got until Thursday 16 July to make your voice heard on this exciting new chapter for Thamesmead and the wider borough.
