Delivering new extra care housing to help older residents live independently

Two hands holding each other.

Subject to Cabinet approval on 18 March, the council is proposing to redevelop its Langton Way site into modern affordable extra care housing for older residents with care needs.

The building is a former sheltered housing site that has reached the end of its life. By partnering with Anchor, the country’s largest not-for-profit specialist housing provider, the council can deliver 100% affordable homes with 24-hour support, which will not only give residents the ability to live independently for longer but also free up family-sized homes, reduce pressure on our care services, and address the lack of this type of specialist housing in the borough.
