Students across Royal Greenwich are celebrating today (Thursday 13 August) as they receive their A-Level, vocational and technical qualification results, marking the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and determination.
Results Day is an important milestone for young people across the borough. Many students will now be preparing to take up places at universities across the country, including some of the UK's most prestigious institutions, while others will be progressing into apprenticeships, employment, training and a range of other exciting opportunities.
Sixth forms and colleges all over the borough spent the morning giving out results and Councillor Sandra Bauer, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Post-16 Futures, was joined by Mayor of Royal Greenwich Councillor David Gardner, at Eltham Hill School to celebrate their achievements.
Councillor Sandra Bauer, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Post-16 Futures. said:
"Results Day marks the end of a special chapter for many young people, and I hope all our students are incredibly proud of what they have achieved. Whether university, an apprenticeship, employment or further training awaits, you've worked hard to get to where you are today. Whatever your next steps, I hope you take the opportunity to celebrate your achievements with family and friends before the next chapter begins.
"Today's successes are another example of how our schools, colleges and sixth forms help young people be great in Greenwich. We have high ambitions for our children and young people, and we're lucky to have dedicated teachers and support staff who play such an important role in helping students achieve their goals. I'd like to thank them for their continued commitment and support."
As students look ahead to the future, Royal Greenwich is encouraging young people to celebrate safely and stay connected through the borough's free cultural events and activities. Young people can also sign up to Young Greenwich, a free membership scheme offering access to activities, opportunities and support throughout the year.
