Community organisations across Royal Greenwich are benefiting from new funding, donated materials and professional expertise thanks to council’s Match My Project platform.
The initiative, launched by the Royal Borough of Greenwich in February 2025, has already attracted 111 businesses, with 80 voluntary sector groups at the heart of their communities receiving support through the programme.
From a new kitchen for a community centre in Woolwich and laptops for volunteers to funding for local events and improvements to community gardens, Match My Project has connected organisations with the support they need.
Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “The platform is creating meaningful partnerships that benefit our voluntary and community sector as well as the residents they support.
“We will continue to build relationships with businesses and organisations who share our values and believe in making a positive impact in the communities they serve.”
Councillor Rachel Taggart Ryan, Cabinet Member for Finance and Resources said: “Every one of these projects tells a story about people working together to achieve real results. Our communities are better off when businesses put social value at the forefront, providing small but essential services for organisations that wouldn’t be able to get there without a little support.”

Businesses that want to support local causes, meet their social value commitments, and achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals are encouraged to sign up to Match My Project. The platform brings together businesses, contractors and community organisations to create positive change across the borough.
Community organisations looking for support are also encouraged to join. By taking part, businesses and contractors can connect with local projects and opportunities, helping to ensure their social value activities make a real difference to local residents and community groups.
This supports the aims of the new Procurement Act 2023, which places greater focus on delivering social, economic and environmental benefits through public sector contracts, ensuring investment in local services creates lasting benefits for communities.
