Greenwich’s highest achieving and hardest working students have been recognised at the fourth annual Great in Greenwich Awards.
Students from schools and colleges across the borough, joined by proud family members and teachers, gathered at Woolwich Town Hall on Monday 14 September to celebrate their achievements and mark the end of their school journey.
Dressed for the occasion, young people received awards after being nominated by teachers for outstanding attainment, determination, hard work and perseverance throughout their studies.
Councillor Sandra Bauer, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Post-16 Futures, said:
"The Great in Greenwich Awards are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of young people across our borough and recognise the hard work, resilience and determination that have brought them to this moment."
"Every student receiving an award tonight should be incredibly proud. Whether they have achieved exceptional grades, overcome personal challenges or shown unwavering commitment to their studies, they embody the very best of Greenwich."
"It is inspiring to see so many talented young people preparing for their next chapter. Whether that is continuing in education, training or employment, I have no doubt they will go on to achieve great things."
"I'd also like to thank our teachers, school staff and families whose encouragement and support play such an important role in helping young people succeed. This evening is a celebration of everything they have achieved together."
Councillor Bauer was joined by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Councillor David Gardner, to welcome students and their families and congratulate award recipients on their success.
The awards come after another strong year for Royal Greenwich schools. At A-level, more students achieved A to C grades. At GCSE nearly two-thirds of pupils secured passes in both English and maths, with almost half achieving a strong pass at Grade 5 or above.
Applications are now open for children due to start secondary school next year, giving more families the opportunity to Be Great in Greenwich. Applications close on 31 October 2026.
