Catch England’s first knockout game of the World Cup live on the big screen in Woolwich

A big screen with the word 'Come on England' on it.

Watch England’s first match of the World Cup knock out stage at a family-friendly screening in General Gordon Square on Wednesday 1 July 2026.

If England beat Panama on Saturday 26 June (fingers crossed), the council will show their next game live on The Big Screen, with kick off at 5pm. Alcohol is not permitted.

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Culture, Equalities and Leisure, said: “Sport has the power to inspire the next generation and bring our diverse communities together. That’s why we’re inviting our residents to cheer on the Three Lions with their neighbours in the heart of Woolwich Town Centre.

“The family friendly is screening is open to all – everyone is welcome. So why not pick the kids up from school, pack a picnic and come along to watch England live on the big screen in General Gordon Square. Let’s bring football home together!”

If you’re feeling inspired, there are plenty of ways to get involved in the beautiful game across the borough too.
