Parking your bike safely is about to get easier after 40 new on-street cycle hangar locations have been confirmed across the borough.
The new hangars will be installed across a range of neighbourhoods including Greenwich Park, East Greenwich, Plumstead & Glyndon, and Plumstead Common, helping more residents safely store their bikes closer to home.
A council spokesperson, said:
"Not everyone has access to a safe place to store a bike, these hangars will provide secure cycle parking for residents, giving more people the option to own and use a bike.
Improving cycle parking plays an important role in supporting active travel and making it easier for people to choose cycling for everyday journeys."
The programme supports the council’s wider ambitions to encourage sustainable travel, reduce car dependency, and create a cleaner, greener borough.
The council consulted earlier this year on proposals to install cycle hangars at 50 locations as part of its ongoing Cycle Hangars Programmes. The remaining 10 sites are still under consideration.
