Fifteen parks and green spaces across Royal Greenwich have once again been recognised with the prestigious Green Flag Award, the international benchmark for well-managed parks and green spaces.
Organised by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the Green Flag Award celebrates parks that achieve the highest standards of environmental management, cleanliness, and visitor experience.
Royal Greenwich parks have proudly held Green Flag status since 2008, marking 18 consecutive years of recognition for the borough's beautiful green spaces.
This year's success reflects the council's ongoing commitment to high-quality parks and green spaces that support residents' health and wellbeing, enhance biodiversity, and provide valued spaces for recreation, relaxation and community activities.
Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Equality, Culture and Communities, said: "We're incredibly proud that several of Royal Greenwich's parks have once again been recognised with Green Flag Awards. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our parks staff and local community groups, who tirelessly care for parks and green spaces, ensuring they are safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone. Thank you to our staff and these groups – your hard work makes our borough a beautiful place to live.
"As part of our commitment to a greener borough, we will continue to invest in our parks and green spaces so that residents and visitors can enjoy them for years to come. This includes £100,000 for resident groups caring for local green spaces, upgrades to park playgrounds, and tree planting across our parks and green spaces."
