World Mental Health Day: where to get support in Greenwich

Today marks World Mental Health Day 2025, and the Royal Borough of Greenwich is encouraging residents to take time to prioritise their mental wellbeing and to reach out for support if they are struggling.
This year's theme is 'access to services - mental health in catastrophes and emergencies'. The theme highlights the importance of people being able to protect their mental health in times of global instability.
The world is going through a tough time right now and even if you're not directly affected by events, it can still feel like a lot to cope with. It's okay to ask for help, no matter what you, or anyone else is going through. There are things we can do to protect ourselves and others from feeling overwhelmed and hopeless in the face of current events. Read the Mental Health Foundation’s advice on managing feelings of overwhelm, or tips on managing your news consumption.
Councillor Mariam Lolavar, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary said: “Having good health is foundation to living a happy life, and it's important to remember that looking after our mental health is just as important as our physical.
“Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or isolated, help is always available. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of our local support services. Getting some support can really make a difference.”

If you need urgent help, call NHS 111 for mental health crisis support, or Samaritans on 116 123 for free, 24-hour confidential listening.
