The council is inviting residents to attend a new round of Sustainable Streets feedback sessions in the areas of Charlton, Kidbrooke and Blackheath, Thamesmead West, and Woolwich where Sustainable Streets are proposed.

There will be two drop-in sessions per location which will give residents the opportunity to speak to a council official about the proposals for their area and individual street, ask questions and leave feedback. Residents are advised to book for only one session so as many people can be accommodated as possible.

Councillor Averil Lekau, Deputy Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Sustainability and Transport, said: “Thank you to those who attended the in-person workshop events at Woolwich Town Hall – your feedback has been invaluable. As I have said before, this a consultation and no decisions have been. These upcoming local community events will give residents further opportunities to talk to us, ask questions and share their thoughts about their area.

"Sustainable Streets aim to encourage more people to walk, cycle or use public transport to reduce air pollution and traffic, and improve road safety. A range of measures are proposed from improved parking management so that parking is prioritised for residents and businesses, and safer crossings.

“Your feedback is vitally important to us, and I encourage more people to come forward to help us shape our proposals. If you haven’t had your say yet, please do. We want to hear from you before the deadline of the informal consultation phase at midnight on Tuesday, 30 September.”

Booking in advance is essential as we need to safely manage the capacity of these community venues. Book online or by phoning 020 8854 8888.

How to take part

To view detailed maps of what is proposed for each area please go online, visit a participating library or attend a community drop-in event. These are initial proposals; no decisions have been made at this stage and any decisions made will have regard to the feedback received. The consultation runs until midnight on Tuesday 30 September 2025.

What happens next

After this round of informal consultation closes, we will analyse the feedback received and report back to our community with what we have heard and what will happen next. If after this a final revised scheme is put forward for implementation there will be a further consultation and community feedback would again be encouraged.
