Statement from Multifaith Forum on Bondi Beach Attack

We are all shocked, dismayed and horrified by the behaviour of some at the events that have taken place in Australia.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the horrific attack on Bondi Beach. This is a deeply disturbing incident, and our hearts are with the Jewish community across the world at this distressing time  as they mourn the loss of many and celebrate the Jewish festival.

No one should have to live in fear because of their faith.

There is absolutely no place in our society for antisemitism or hatred of any kind, and in the Royal Borough of Greenwich we stand in solidarity with our Jewish community and all those within this diverse borough.

Recently we joined together for a peace walk and we want to continue this attitude of peace.

We encourage everyone to be vigilant at events and in public spaces and if you see anything suspicious, please trust your instincts and tell someone. In an emergency, please call 999.
