Royal Borough of Greenwich Chief Executive appointed as part of team of commissioners to oversee running of the London Borough of Croydon

Debbie Warren, Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, has been appointed by the government's Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG), led by the Minister for Local Government and English Devolution Jim McMahon OBE MP, as part of a team of Commissioners to help support the London Borough of Croydon’s financial recovery. This was set out in a ministerial statement on the Thursday, 17 July. 

The Royal Borough of Greenwich under Debbie’s leadership has a reputation for strong financial management. It has continued to serve its residents in the face of ongoing economic uncertainty and rising service demands. 

Debbie will bring with her a wealth of experience as a council-chief of eight years, 35 years in local authority finance, and London Council's current Lead Chief Executive for Finance. She will continue in her role as Chief Executive of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, supported by the Council’s Deputy Chief Executive Jamie Carswell and the rest of the senior management team, while taking on additional duties as a government commissioner.
