Following the closure of the post office at WH Smith in April this year, the Post Office has announced plans for a new branch in Woolwich. This will be located on 102 Powis Street as part of new store Stationeries & Gifts and will open on Friday 30 January 2026.
Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business, Greenwich Supports and Environmental Services said: “We are delighted that the Post Office has secured new premises in Woolwich and just a few doors down from where it was previously. We have been working with British Land and the Post Office since the closure of WH Smith was announced to make this happen. We know this news will be welcomed by residents and business. Stationeries & Gifts is currently being fitted out, so it will be open for business not long into the new year. In the meantime, there are Post Offices branches at Brewery Road, Herbert Road and Kingsman Parade”
The new post office will have a different look. Instead of kiosks, it will have a low-screened, open-plan serving point that will form part of the retail counter. The Post Office is currently seeking people’s view on accessibility, so please submit your feedback here.
