Over £1.2million invested to support local climate projects

We have successfully raised just under £1.28 million through our second round of the Greenwich Green Investment, securing more than double the amount invested in 2024.
The scheme, which backs sustainability and climate action across the borough, was relaunched after raising £562,000 in November 2024. This money has been used to help fund our £4.3 million Eltham Centre Air Source Heat Pump project – one of the largest energy efficiency upgrades in the borough.
Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has invested in Greenwich Green Investment. Every pound raised represents not just financial support, but a shared belief that together we can build a greener, healthier future for our borough.
“It shows how powerful our community is when we come together and demonstrates how Greenwich Green Investment has quickly become a cornerstone for success.
“With £562,000 already being used to decarbonise the Eltham Centre, this is just the beginning. We have big plans for latest raise, finding solutions on how to tackle climate change at a local level.”
Councillor Denise Hyland, Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Social Value said: “Through both rounds of our Greenwich Green Investment, over £1.8 million has been secured, this is no small feat.
"Your investment is supporting our efforts to make real progress at the Eltham Centre, which like many public buildings has relied heavily on gas. But thanks to your investment the new system will cut carbon emissions by 75 per cent, saving 489 tonnes of CO₂ each year - the same as taking more than 100 cars off the road annually.
“Change like this isn’t possible without likeminded individuals doing their part to make a difference.”
The £1,279,600 raised in 2025 will drive further climate projects across Royal Greenwich, cutting emissions, reducing energy costs, and helping to create a cleaner, greener borough for everyone.
