Kidbrooke Park Road North, the first phase of a 452-home social housing development, has won The Mayor’s Prize at this year’s New London Architecture Awards.

The winning scheme was designed by HTA Design and consists of 122 one, two and three bedroom apartments and maisonettes, 12 of which are wheelchair adapted.

The scheme also features a new nursery, extensive landscaping with 69 newly planted trees, children’s play area and an innovative sustainable energy centre.

A second phase of development is currently underway to the south of the site. Once complete, it will provide a further 330 homes, along with retail space, landscaping and more tree planting.

Cllr Majid Rahman, Cabinet Member for Planning, Estate Renewal and Development, said:

“Being awarded the Mayor’s Prize for our largest social housing development is a fantastic endorsement of the 1,750 council homes we’re creating with the Housing Our Greenwich programme.

Over 580 homes have now been completed and hundreds more are under construction across our borough.

We are committed to making sure that everyone in our borough has a safe and secure place to live, and Kidbrooke Park Road North demonstrates how we are making good on that commitment, with 122 homes for social rent to local people.

We hope this recognition will inspire other local authorities to follow our example, by building council homes that everyone can afford."

Supported by the Mayor of London, the NLA Awards celebrate the people, places and projects shaping a better London, judged by a panel of leading figures in architecture, planning and design.

Kidbrooke Park Road North has now received several awards, most recently the Housing Design Awards
