Holiday Food and Fun clubs return for Christmas

Eligible children and young people can once again enjoy a free place at a Holiday Food and Fun club this winter, as the popular programme returns for Christmas 2025.

Hundreds of festive activity sessions will run across the borough throughout the school holidays, offering everything from sports and outdoor adventures to creative workshops and cooking activities, all at no cost to parents or carers.

Free places are available for children aged 4 to 16 who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals.

Councillor Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People said:

“Holiday Food and Fun makes the Christmas break a much easier and more enjoyable time for families. Whether children want to burn off some energy at a local sports club or get creative at an arts and crafts session, there’s something for everyone. I encourage parents to check the list of participating clubs on our website and book early as places always fill up fast.

“We will also be running our free holiday meals programme, providing lunches for all children at libraries across the borough, ensuring no child goes hungry over the holidays.”

This year, the Holiday Food and Fun programme continues to build on the success of London’s universal free school meals offer. However, families are reminded that eligibility for Holiday Food and Fun still depends on benefits-related free school meal status, so parents should confirm their child’s eligibility before applying.

Councillor Mariam Lolavar, Cabinet Member for Health, Adult Social Care and Borough of Sanctuary said:

“This programme is about more than activities, it’s about ensuring every child has access to nutritious food and a warm, welcoming space during the holidays. Holiday Food and Fun reflects our commitment to supporting families, improving wellbeing, and making our borough a place where everyone’s health supports them in living their best lives, and where everyone can thrive.”
