Council and TfL to deliver public realm improvements to Silvertown Tunnel Enhancement Area

The Royal Borough of Greenwich, in partnership with Transport for London (TfL), is set to deliver a major revamp of areas close to the Silvertown and Blackwall Tunnels as part of our commitment to creating a greener, safer and more sustainable borough.
The improvements, which include new pocket parks and better pedestrian crossings, will focus on several locations on the approach to both tunnels, including:
- Westcombe Park Station Bridge and ramp
- Farmdale Road
- Horn Lane
- Tunnel Avenue
- Siebert Road
The proposals aim to make the area more attractive and accessible, particularly for those walking, cycling or using public transport.
The works will include:
- Improved active travel routes to schools, stations and local amenities
- Creation of new pocket parks
- Upgraded pedestrian crossings, bridges and continuous footways
- Removal of unnecessary street clutter, including old signage and railings
- Planting of new trees to improve air quality and reduce noise
Following feedback from residents, works are expected to begin early next year.
The council is inviting residents to have their say on the proposed works. Two drop-in sessions have been planned at Mycenae House (90 Mycenae Road, Blackheath, London, SE3 7SE) on:
- Wednesday 10 September, 12:00pm – 3:00pm
- Wednesday 17 September, 4:30pm – 7:30pm
