Community feedback sessions announced for West and East Greenwich Neighbourhood Management Trial

Residents and businesses are invited to share their views about the ongoing West and East Greenwich Neighbourhood Management Trial at a new series of community feedback sessions. The upcoming sessions offer an opportunity for the community to meet the project team, learn more about the trial, and provide their feedback in person.
Councillor Averil Lekau, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Climate Action, Sustainability and Transport, said: “We want to make it easier and greener to travel around our borough. Creating healthier and safer neighbourhoods for all our residents is a vital step in addressing the long-standing issues of air pollution and traffic in west and east Greenwich. As we approach the six-month mark, we want to hear your experience and insight into how you think the trial has been working. Feedback is crucial in shaping the future of this project, so attend your closest session and tell us what you think.”
Launched on 27 November 2024, the neighbourhood management trial aims to improve air quality, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance safety and accessibility for people walking and cycling in both west and east Greenwich. These neighbourhoods have experienced high levels of air pollution and traffic, despite a significant number of residents not owning cars.
The trial measures include:
- Part-time camera-controlled restrictions: Operating on weekdays during peak hours (7am to 10am and 3pm to 7pm) to prevent through traffic on selected roads in west and east Greenwich.
- Exemptions: In place for Blue Badge holders, taxis, private hire vehicles, council refuse vehicles, and individuals and community groups in special circumstances.
All feedback received at the community feedback sessions be carefully considered, along with views shared through our ongoing online survey, before any decisions are made regarding potential changes, removal, or permanent implementation of the measures.
Attendees to the upcoming sessions should register for one session only, either in-person or for the online webinar. Residents are encouraged to attend the session closest to their location to provide the most relevant feedback based on their direct experiences. Each session will include a presentation followed by a question-and-answer period.
