June is LGBTQIA+ Pride Month and the Royal Borough of Greenwich and its community partners will celebrate with a range of inclusive activities for residents to get involved with.

Events will take place across the borough, from family arts and crafts at our libraries, to cruising down the Thames on the METRO Pride Boat. The council is encouraging local organisations to sign our Equality and Equity Charter and will also run a programme of internal activities and workshops for staff to take part in.

A spokesperson for the Royal Borough of Greenwich said: “Pride Month is a dedicated time to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ communities, to raise awareness of issues affecting LGBTQIA+ people and to stand up against hatred and discrimination.

“But it’s vital this continues all year round. We’re committed to making sure Royal Greenwich is a warm, inclusive place where people feel safe to proudly be themselves every day.

“Celebrate and learn about Pride at activities throughout Royal Greenwich this June and sign our Equality and Equity Charter now to join us in our pledge for equality across our borough.”

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month is celebrated annually across the world in June, to mark the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots that took place in New York City on 28 June 1969. Celebrations will continue into July, with Pride in London taking place on Saturday 5 July.
