The Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards are back! Nominations now open

Now in its eighth year, the Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards is an annual celebration of local independent businesses and organisations, and their contribution to our borough. Nominations are open, so businesses are encouraged to get their entries in.

This year, we are celebrating businesses that not only excel commercially and make the borough an attractive place to do business, but also have a positive impact on communities, encourage us to collaborate, and create a more inclusive economy.

Councillor Jackie Smith, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Business, Greenwich Supports and Environmental Services, said: “The search is on for Royal Greenwich’s most exceptional businesses. We want to shine a light on the important work of our business community and their contributions to the borough.

“Our missions are that the local economy attracts new high value businesses while strengthening its foundations, and that the socially motivated sector is empowered. We want to hear from businesses that not only have boardroom success but those which maximise social value and change the lives of Royal Greenwich residents for the better. I encourage company owners, business managers, entrepreneurs and third sector organisations to nominate themselves to raise their profiles, boost staff morale, build their networks and be in with the chance of winning.”

Councillor Anthony Okereke, Leader of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, said: “Our borough is home to over 9,000 businesses and the Best of Royal Greenwich Business Awards ceremony is a much-anticipated date in the calendar. The awards offer an opportunity to highlight the crucial role businesses play in delivering inclusive growth, whether by investing in the borough or providing opportunities to local people. If you know a business which deserves to win an award, please encourage them to enter before nominations close on 9 January.”

The awards, which are open to all local businesses and free to enter, are organised by the council, and this year in association with new headline sponsor Berkeley and supported by the South East London Chamber of Commerce. The event is made possible by the generosity of a stellar lineup of sponsors.

There are 16 categories, three of which are decided by public vote and the rest are selected by a panel of experts. There is a £3,000 prize for Business of the Year.

Alongside returning categories, we are excited to introduce several new categories for 2026:

  • Cooperative or Community Business Award
  • Creative and Cultural Contribution Award
  • Excellence in International Trade Award
  • Inclusive Employer Champion Award
  • Local Collaboration Champion Award
  • Outstanding Young Innovator or Inventor Award

Businesses can enter up to two categories online and submissions close on 9 January. Anyone interested should attend the Meet the Judges event on 19 November to find out what they will be looking for in a winner. The shortlist will be announced on 6 February.

Save the date: The awards ceremony will take place at Woolwich Works on the 13 March 2026.
