Apply now for your child's primary school place
Parents of children who are due to start primary school in September 2026 need to apply for a school place by the 15 January deadline.
Cllr Adel Khaireh, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
“Parents and carers don’t have to go far to find a great primary school in Royal Greenwich. Our borough is filled with fantastic primary schools which all offer varied, exciting curriculums, great facilities and caring teachers.
"Whatever your preference your child will be receive high quality education in Greenwich and will be taught by inspiring teachers who will help bring out the best in your child nurturing their interest, talents and skills.”
Parents and carers can view our primary school admissions guide on our website. Applications can then be made by our online portal.
The online application is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – and there’s no risk of your application being lost or delayed by the post.
What you need to do
- Check eligibility. Ensure you check when your child is due to start primary school. This is typically when your child turns 4 years.
- Complete an application form if your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022.
- Choose the schools you want to apply for. You can read our primary admissions booklet to find out about each school and visit their websites to find out more.
- Select your preferences. When filling out the application, list your preferred schools in order of preference. We recommend you put down your six preferred choices if possible (first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth choices). We will always try and offer you a place at your top choice but filling in all your preferences increases your chances of securing a place.
- Complete any other forms the school needs. This only applies to some schools. Find out which ones on their individual websites.
- Respond to your offer of a school place. Deadline for accepting or declining an offer will typically be two weeks after you have received an outcome.
