Could you change a child’s life?
Across Royal Greenwich and beyond there are thousands of children waiting for their forever home, which is why this Adoption Week (21 to 27) October the Royal Borough of Greenwich is sharing the importance of adoption.
A council spokesperson said:
“Home isn’t just a place, it’s a feeling and sadly it's not one that not every child knows.
“Families come in all different shapes and sizes – you don’t have to have it all figured out, just enough to give a child a safe and supportive home to grow up and reach their full potential.
“If you want to grow your family, consider adoption and change a child’s life forever”
In Royal Greenwich, you are eligible to adopt once you have turned 21, as long as you're able provide a nurturing, stable environment and have the financial means to support a child as they grow. Adopters can be mixed or same sex couples, as well as single people (with or without children).
Catherine, a single adopter in Royal Greenwich: "I have been working with the Greenwich Adoption team since March 2014 and my daughter and I recently became a little legal family.
"From day one, I have found the team to be a delight to work with; very professional, helpful, approachable, and genuinely interested in providing support and information each step of the way during the adoption process.
"I highly recommend The Royal Borough of Greenwich to anyone interested in adoption or feeling they are ready to start the process. Had I known everything I know now, I would have started sooner!"
