Current and planned 20mph zones

Royal Greenwich has committed to introducing 20 mph on all residential roads in the borough. This is to make our streets safer and is funded by Transport for London (TfL).

There is a 90% change someone will be killed if they are hit by a vehicle driving at 40 mph. At 20 mph, there is a 2.5% chance.

Current and planned 20 mph zones

Since 2012, we have been working in phases to install new 20mph zones across the borough. We expect all residential roads to have a 20mph limit by April 2027.

If the Council is looking to propose a 20mph zone in your area, you will receive a consultation letter. You can submit any comments you have on Commonplace
