Renew or replace a disabled person's Freedom Pass
Freedom Passes have a set renewal date on 31 March, five years after you were issued your pass.
You'll receive a renewal application form in the year of renewal. To renew your pass, return the completed form before the deadline.
Due to the high number of renewals, we're unable to confirm receipt of all application packs.
We'll contact you if:
- your application pack is incomplete
- you need to attend a mobility assessment
- you're no longer eligible for a pass.
When you renew and receive your new pass
If you were first issued your pass in 2015 you will be due to renew it by 31 March 2020. This will apply even if you have since replaced your pass.
Renewal invitation letters were sent out in September 2019.
You should have returned all required supporting items to us by the middle of November 2019.
London Councils will start to send out the new passes from the middle of January 2020
Changing to an older person's Freedom Pass
When you reach, or are just approaching the age of entitlement, you'll be moved across to an older person's Freedom Pass.
If you're at the eligible age, contact the Mobility Team to let us know. You don't need to complete the disabled person's Freedom Pass renewal application form you receive.
We'll change your status and then in November or December, London Councils will make contact with you directly about your new older person's Freedom Pass.
People who are registered blind
If you're blind or severely partially sighted, you should have your blind registration card with your older person's Freedom Pass. This will allow you board transport without having to touch or swipe your pass in the same way as with the disabled person's Freedom Pass.
