Adoption support for adopted adults
The Royal Borough of Greenwich provides the following services to adults who were adopted as children:
Access to records
We offer a confidential information, advice and counselling service to adopted adults who wish to find out more about their birth history.
If you are over 18 you can apply for access to your adoption records, and for your original birth certificate.
This service is open to residents of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and, like all our services, it is strictly confidential.
We also offer an intermediary or mediation service to adopted adults to help them to make contact with their birth families.
Adopted adults support group
The South London Adoption Consortium run a bimonthly support group for adopted adults.
For further information, contact the Adoption Support Team.
Registering a veto
If you do not wish to have contact with a member of your birth family and you believe you would not want them to contact you in the future, you can prevent this by registering a veto.
