Get involved in the Turnaround Programme

What is the Turnaround Programme

The Turnaround Programme aims to prevent young people (10 to 17 years) from becoming involved in crime or anti-social behaviour. We do this by supporting young people and their families.

Who is eligible

You can only refer young people who have recently been arrested or are coming to the police’s notice.

They must be between the ages of 10 and 17 years at the time of the referral.

They must also fit one or more of the following criteria:

  • have come to the notice of agencies with enforcement powers for repeated involvement in anti-social behaviour
  • involved in anti-social behaviour and have received: Community Protection Warning/Notice, Acceptable Behaviour Contract and/or Civil Order for Anti-Social Behaviour
  • interviewed under caution following an arrest or attending a voluntary interview that is subject to criminal investigation
  • are subject to No Further Action decision
  • are subject to a Community Resolution
  • receiving a first-time youth caution, not including conditional caution
  • released under investigation or those subject to pre-charge bail
  • discharged by a court
  • acquitted at court
  • fined by a court

You can refer young people to us if you are:

  • a member of the police
  • a front-line practitioner
  • a representative from MASH
  • a representative from a school

How we can help

We can help with:

  • feeling safe in the local community
  • education, employment and apprenticeship opportunities
  • engaging in positive activities
  • worries about drugs or alcohol
  • relationship difficulties
  • knowing your rights
  • worries or concerns around health and wellbeing

Make a referral

Refer someone to the Turnaround Programme.

What happens next

Once we have received your referral, we will make contact so one of our Turnaround staff can visit you or the young person in question. This can be somewhere within the community or at home.

Once we find out more about the situation and how we may be able to help you, we will plan what needs to happen next.

We will support you and your young person to make this happen.
