What counts as abuse?
Abuse in a relationship comes in many different forms, but it's mainly when someone tries to control, intimidate or hurt their partner or family members.
Using violence and intimidation to control your partner or family members is never okay.
It's also not okay for children and young people to experience violence, whether they are victims or witnesses. Research shows that violence in the home affects children whether they see it, hear it or just know about it.
